The İstanbul Nişantaşı University School of Physical Education and Sports (BESYO) was established in 2016. It began admitting students in the 2016–2017 academic year through three departments: Coaching Education, Sports Management, and Recreation. With the establishment of the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences in the 2020–2021 academic year, the School expanded to a total of four departments. In a very short period, BESYO has established itself among the leading institutions in the sports sector.
Guided by the responsibility of educating knowledgeable, cultured, healthy, and, above al, principled individuals, the School of Physical Education and Sports prepares well-equipped students who contribute to participatory democracy and embrace integrity as a fundamental value. Through an educational approach that encourages young people who choose our School not only to become professionaly competent but also to become good and responsible individuals, we address education and personal development within the same framework.
Located in the heart of the city, our School provides access to İstanbul’s sporting, cultural, economic, and technological opportunities. With academics who are experts in their fields and possess interdisciplinary knowledge and experience, as well as modern sports facilities and classrooms, the School delivers high-quality education and training.
Through curricula prepared in accordance with the Bologna Process, our students have the opportunity to study at internationaly recognized universities through the Erasmus international student exchange programme.
The İstanbul Nişantaşı University School of Physical Education and Sports aims to keep pace with contemporary developments in sport sciences, sports technology, and culture and to reach “the level of contemporary civilizations.” It regards educating generations who are “free in thought, free in knowledge, and free in conscience” and thereby illuminating our future as one of its fundamental responsibilities.
